My GardensI am sitting in the office tonight finishing up some stuff ready to go light a fire, grab a glass of wine and chill. I have been dreaming of nothing but seed starting and how much frickin room I am going to have for gardening and raising live stock this Spring. I have been sketching and planning. I plan on having a large area with the shed, bunny hutch and chicken coop fenced in one area. We already have electrical fencing set up so I can turn that on in the evening to keep predators away. But I want the Vegetable Gardens all secured. The chickens can do some work while I am tending and I can bring my cat out with me and not worry about her.
She use to be out in the backyard which was fenced 6 feet high and loved it. Since we moved on the farm she has not been able to go outside. She is de-clawed so it would be a big mistake just in case. Sheesh she could run into the creature I saw out on the side of the house next to the corn field, that was totally freaky.
Here are some of my gardens when we lived in our last home. I had about an acre. My poor hubby would come home and I would have a new patch dug up. (He really was proud of his grass) :-) I save my Wine Bottles and Corks, this looks really pretty when you have lights .
My Raised Beds, we got every piece of this wood for FREE, I found a company on Craigslist that were closing their doors and said come and get it, within an hour my husband and I had two truck loads sitting in our drive way LOL.
I added a small garden that was not raised for the Soy Beans and more Cukes against the fence. I had all native ferns and Hosta I found for free from Craigslist years ago
I added straw to retain the moisture, or is it hay? I forget.. This section was for freezing and dehydrating my tomatoes.
This was called the Secret garden, when you drove by the front of the house it was quite stunning. I cannot tell you how many people called me the garden lady. Seriously they would walk up to me at the grocery store and say don't you have the house with the red door and the gardens? Aah shucks that is I.. LOL, I am lucky to be outside I guess when folks are traveling to and from work :-)
