Champions For Kids
This time of the year has me reminding myself and my children how fortunate we truly are. We are truly blessed.. We are living in my dream house. Well not necessarily dream house but dream land. I finally got my farm where I can spend the day gardening, cooking, doing DIY projects, living sustainably and taking care of animals. My children have developed this passion too. They also love to give back to there community and work with children that may not have a mom or dad around. My sons give many hours a week as a coach and mentor to children at the school where they went as a young boys.
I was a stay at home mom when all three children were being raised. We lived in a nice apartment most of the time where my husband was the maintenance man. It was perfect, it had three large bedrooms, two baths and a large laundry room. We got to see dad all day long. He was able to take any time off for coaching and helping out for school extra activities. When my daughter started 1st grade I was pushed out of the nest to get a job and figure out my passions. LOL, I was a lost puppy.
It is not like that for many kids. They may be alone with parents working or have no food on the table or gifts under the tree. When they are young the feeling of Christmas is like no other holiday. My family is working with Champions For Kids to help them during this time of year. "Champions for Kids works to mobilize millions of people by providing training and resources to improve the lives of children in communities across America and beyond." Their goal is to mobilize 20 Million people by 2020.
My husband children and I were discussing how we will be participating in the simple service project. The month of December is
Disney Stocking Stuffer CelebrationI got my mom and sisters involved in the celebration too. My mom has a big party with all of her sisters so she asked them all to bring a stocking stuffer donation, then she will be putting this together for her local church she attends.
We will be donating to our local food shelf who will make sure the stocking is given to a little girl around elementary age. My daughter and I will be making a cute girly stocking filled with everything bright and cheery from Disney when we head to Walmart. Check back with my finished stocking soon :-)
